On the occasion of the AGM of the Chamber, held in the Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday 23 May, Felipe Cousiño, Partner of Alessandri & Compañía , assumed his new role as President of the Chamber for 2006- 2009. In the AGM the President gave an overview of the Chamber´s progress, highlighting adjustments and improvements that have been implemented as well as those aspects that have remained unchanged.  The treasurer then reported on the Chamber´s finance for the year 2005-2006. 

This was followed by a lunch with Guest Speaker Carlos Mena, Executive Vice President of the Foreign Investment Committee who spoke to an audience of over fifty guests on Investment Conditions in Chile, providing an up-to-date view of Chile’s favourable position in the world.  Mena emphasized the importance of social development, citing corporate social responsibility as a vital tool in order to achieve economic development.  Furthermore, he underlined the importance of communication between local and foreign firms on subjects such as good business practice, social responsibility and reduction of environmental impacts for foreign investment.
