Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer appoints new international partner in Spain

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announces the appointment of a new international corporate partner for Spain as of 1 May 2007.   This appointment takes the number of partners in Spain to 15.   David Franco joins the partnership together with 21 new partners worldwide. 

David Franco joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2000 from the Spanish law firm Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.  He specializes in corporate law and has wide experience in mergers, acquisitions and corporate governance.  He has advised national and international clients in some of the major takeovers of recent years, such as the bids for Urbis, Colonial, Fadesa, Endesa, Amadeus, Aldeasa, Recoletos, Cepsa and Hicrocantábrico.

The appointment of David Franco confirms the excellent progress of the corporate department in Spain, which now comprises 5 partners and a team of more than 25 associates in Madrid and Barcelona, fully integrated within the international practice of the firm, and present in the majority of the key acquisitions and flotations of the past year.

This appointment also means further recognition of the firm’s standing in Spain. New partners have been regularly appointed in our country over the last five years: Iñaki Gabilondo, Finance, 2003; Armando Albarrán, Corporate, 2004; Rafael Murillo, Dispute Resolution, 2005 and Silvia Paternain and Miguel Lorán, Tax, 2004 and 2006 respectively.
