Florencia Heredia is a partner at Beccar Varela, where she leads the Natural Resources: Mining practice. She rejoined the firm in 2026.

She is an expert in natural resources and mining law, with over 35 years of experience advising companies and financial institutions on mining and energy transactions, including the main mining project financings in Argentina. In recent years, she has included social and corporate governance aspects of the extractive industries into her practice, with a focus on critical minerals and the energy transition.

She graduated as a lawyer from Universidad Católica Argentina (1991, summa cum laude). She holds a Master’s degree in Business Law from Universidad Austral (1995, summa cum laude), a specialization in Corporate Sustainability from the Instituto de Estudios para la Sustentabilidad Corporativa (2004), and a certification in Corporate Governance from INSEAD Business School (Fontainebleau, France, 2026).

She was a partner at Allende & Brea (2018–2026), where she led the Natural Resources, Energy, Forestry, ESG, and Sustainability practices. Previously, she was a founding partner of HOLT Abogados (2008–2017), a boutique firm specialized in natural resources. From 1992 to 2008, she worked at Beccar Varela, leading the Natural Resources and Environmental Law Department for nine years and was a foreign associate at Beiten Burkhardt Mittl & Wegener (1997), in Munich, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.

Florencia has developed a distinguished academic career. She was a researcher in the doctoral program and a lecturer in the Pre-Master’s course at Universidad Austral, a visiting professor at the University of Denver (USA), and a professor at the Escuela del Cuerpo de Abogadas y Abogados del Estado (School of State Attorneys). She currently teaches at Universidad Católica de Cuyo (Master’s in Mining Business Management), and at Universidad Católica Argentina (Master’s in Environmental Law). She is also a visiting professor in the Natural Resources and Energy program at the University of Dundee (United Kingdom).

She serves on the Management Board of the International Bar Association (2025–2026). She previously served as Chair of its Mining Law Committee (2014–2015) and of the Section of Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law (2023–2024). She has been Trustee at Large and Secretary of the Board of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Women Forum (Argentine Chapter), and of the Academic Councils of RADHEM and REDMIN. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Law School of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and of the International Affairs Committee of PDAC. She is an active member of the Argentine-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce, where she leads the Mining Group. She was a board member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association (2020–2021).

Florencia has been recognized for over 20 years by Chambers Latin America and The Legal 500. In addition, Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) has named her as Mining Lawyer of the Year on several occasions and awarded her the Lifetime Achievement award in 2024. She is the author of various specialized articles and, in 2021, she received the Willoughby Award for her article on the role of lithium in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
