Jose focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation in the healthcare sector and represents clients in wide-ranging litigations involving unfair and deceptive trade practices statutes, ERISA, Medicare Act, and federal and state RICO claims in federal and state courts.

Jose also has experience representing clients in multidistrict litigation concerning the Torture Victim Protection Act and nationwide class actions in the managed care industry. Jose also maintains a robust pro bono practice, focusing on veterans’ affairs, voting accessibility, and representing individuals who have been sentenced to death. Jose also provides pro bono legal services through a number of organizations throughout the State of Florida, including Legal Services of Greater Miami and Bay Area Legal Services.

Before joining DLA Piper, Jose served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jose E. Martinez, U.S. District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Jose earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. During law school, Jose served as the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Miami Law Review and a Dean’s Fellow for Legal Communication and Research Skills.

Jose is the Executive Chair of the University of Miami Law Review Young Alumni Committee and is an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and University of Miami Young Alumni Committee.
