Greenberg Traurig, S.C.
Larry J. Hoffman is Founding Chairman of Greenberg Traurig. He previously served as the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chairman of the Board. During his tenure as CEO, 1991-1997, he charted a visionary path of expansion for the firm and created transformational change by moving into other cities.
Larry strategically directed the firm’s growth from 92 lawyers in three offices to 325 attorneys in nine offices. Larry led Greenberg Traurig’s expansion throughout Florida and into key markets, such as New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Orlando, Tallahassee, and Boca Raton. Under Larry’s leadership, Greenberg Traurig was recognized among the fastest growing large law firms in the country. The firm received important rankings and achieved prominence. It grew from a local law firm into the international firm that now ranks at the very top of the legal marketplace.
In addition to law firm management, Larry practiced in the corporate, securities and banking law arena for more than 40 years. He has been involved in hundreds of corporate financings, specializing in public offerings of equity and debt securities. Larry has lectured extensively in each of these areas, as well as having been a professor at the University of Miami School of Law, and on the board of numerous banks and corporations.
As one of the three original founders of Greenberg Traurig, Larry devoted most of his time in recent years to participating in the active management of the firm. In that capacity, he was also involved in the firm’s European expansion, including Amsterdam, London, Warsaw and Berlin. Larry is well-known as a student and authority on law firm management and the business of law.
