Shylene De Jesus has over twenty years of experience in civil and commercial litigation. She has been involved in a variety of complex cases over the years in a wide variety of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, creditors’ rights and class action litigation.
Shylene has also acted as lead counsel in intellectual property matters for U.S. and international companies in trademark infringement, unfair competition and cybersquatting cases. She has extensive experience handling ex parte proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Shylene served as Chief Counsel of the Puerto Rico Financial Advisory Authority and Fiscal Agency, which acts as the fiscal agent of the Government of Puerto Rico and is the key liaison between the Government and the Financial Oversight and Management Board, the entity in charge of dealing with the fiscal debt of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities pursuant to the PROMESA Act. Shylene also served as chief legal counsel and deputy executive director of the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority, which, since its inception, has implemented multiple P3 projects to ensure economic sustainability and improve the island’s infrastructure.
