José Paz Morales is partner at Consortium Legal - Honduras. With 11 years of experience in banking law, financial law, securities law, insurance and reinsurance law, corporate law, contract law, and real estate law; he advises foreign and local clients in cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and international financial transactions.

Some of his most prominent works include the merger and acquisition of Banco de America Central Honduras, a bank subsidiary previously owned by General Electric; the merger and acquisition of Aseguradora Hondureña Mundial, S.A., acquired by the insurance group MAPFRE; counsel to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation "OPIC" and Citibank, N.A., in regards to the collateral for the US$ 225.0 million international credit facility granted to BAC´s Central American banking network; regulatory filings and approvals of the initial public offering of US$20 million in debt securities issued by Banco Citibank Honduras, S.A., a subsidiary of Citibank N.A.; advisor of AIG on the sale of its Honduran insurance branch to ASSA SEGUROS; advisor of CONFIANZA-SAFGR, for the creation of a new mutual guarantee fund, which will provide a source of financing of US$4 million by the IDB, to micro entrepreneurs in the Department of Gracias a Dios; advisor to Cerberus Business Finance on the financing of US$ 90 million for the acquisition of a local group in the maquilas sector; advisor to Nucor Corporation on its investment in the contribution of US$ 12MM to the capital stock of Aceros Alfa, the largest steel plant in Honduras; advisor to CINÉPOLIS on the restructuring of it local subsidiary companies; advisor to the Embassy of the United States regarding the construction of its new diplomatic mission complex; advisor on the incorporation of condominium property regimes for various real estate developers, related to five of the most modern buildings in Honduras; in 2017, he advised several creditors on issues of prevention and detection of money laundering related to the forced liquidation of Banco Continental; participation in the structuring and preparation of local credit and security documents, valued at $ 50MM, managed by Credit Suisse with Banco Cuscatlán and Uno Honduras in 2016; participation in the team that advised ABInBev on the sale of the largest sugar producing company in the country.
