Luis E. Lucero has been a partner at Marval O’Farrell Mairal since 2011, specializing in natural resources with a focus on mining. He is also an expert in project finance, complex litigation, arbitration and corporate matters.

Before joining Marval O’Farrell Mairal he was a partner at Cárdenas, Di Ció, Romero, Tarsitano & Lucero, 2007-2010; Fortunati & Lucero Abogados, 2003-2007; and Cárdenas, Cassagne & Asociados, 1994-2003. Between 1993 and 1994, he acted as Foreign Law Consultant for Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro (currently Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman) in San Francisco, California.

With a law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1983, and a postgraduate course in Business Law from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa, Luis has taken many more specialized courses such as the Program of Instruction for Lawyers, Harvard Law School, 1993; the Global Issues in Corporate Mining Strategy and Government Policy at the University of Dundee, 2001; and the Lex Mundi Institute Business Management Program at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, 2014.

He has led workshops at the Center for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee, Scotland in 2007, 2009 and 2010, where he was appointed Honorary Lecturer 2010- 2013. In addition he has taught at most of the leading universities in Buenos Aires and has been a speaker at major international conferences in his field. He co-authored "Leccionesde Derecho Agrario y Recursos Naturales," a book edited by Dr. Edmundo Catalano.

He is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association,the Argentine Committee for Domestic and Transnational Arbitration and the World Initiative of Mining Lawyers. He has served as member of the Board of Directors and Statutory Auditor of several companies in the energy sector.

Luis has been ranked by Chambers Latin America as Star Individual for six years in a row, from 2014 to 2019, and recognized as a leading lawyer in mining and energy resources since 2009. He was also recognized as leading lawyer in mining by Who’s Who Legal 2005-2017, and as the leading Argentine mining law practitioner by Latin Lawyer in 2005. Chambers & Partners described him as "extremely professional and attentive to the clients’ needs, and has an in-depth commercial knowledge." Furthermore, they highlight his availability and add "he is precise and his advice has led to positive decisions." IFLR 1000 rates him as "Highly regarded".
