Tom is a Partner in the Private Property and Landed Estates team who is top ranked for his work in independent legal directory, Chambers and Partners UK. 

He is dual-qualified (MRICS), having practised as a rural Chartered Surveyor before becoming a Solicitor. This enables him to provide unique advice to agricultural clients on a wide range of rural matters.

He joined Michelmores in 2013, and specialises in non-contentious agricultural law and rural property.

Tom advises on sales and purchases, Landlord and Tenant relationships, share and contract farming agreements, mortgaging and re-mortgaging and easements and covenants.

• Advising on the purchase of a substantial agricultural farming company, which involved managing a team of 15 lawyers who provided specific strategic advice on the corporate company planning, environmental law, employment, development opportunities, and commercial contracts, as well as property which extended to some 2500 acres of farmland, 35 residential properties, commercial lets and joint venture agreements over an additional 1500 acres. 
• Negotiating a deed of variation option agreement for lease over an existing sporting lease together with the separate lease of property. This involved complex first registration over some 10 registered titles, some owned by the landlord and others by third parties. 
• Negotiating the granting of an option for lease, being a lease over 150 acres, for a potential solar farm. This involved the negotiation of the commercial terms, perfecting title issues, and working closely with the Tax, Trusts & Succession team to ensure a tax efficient structure was set up to maximise Inheritance Tax relief.
