Demarest is the most prominent law firm, according to Thomson Reuters

Thomson Reuters, one of the most important rankings of the M&A area, has recently announced its rankings of 2015's first semester. 

Reiterating the excellent result achieved in the first quarter of 2015, Demarest was the most prominent law firm. Once again, Demarest were ranked 1st in the Legal Advisors list both for Brazil and Latin America. 

Totalizing slightly over USD 3 billion in announced operations, Demarest went up from number 14 to number 1 in the ranking representing the value of the operations completed, in comparison to the same period of the previous year, which represents 20,9% of the total market. Regarding the quantity of announced operations, Demarest completed 13 transactions, 3 more than those completed in the first semester of 2014, placing itself in 2nd place.

 The leading sectors in the M&A area were: Consumer Goods, Real Estate, and Energy. Among the 10 most important transactions that took place in Brazil, Demarest participated in two of them: BR Properties / FIP e Rede D'Or / GIC.

THE M&A MARKET

 Thomson Reuters emphasized that, on a global level, the M&A market grew 40% in comparison to the same period of the previous year, making this semester the best one since 2007.

The good moment being experienced by the M&A market on a global level is opposed to the M&A market´s situation in Brazil which, despite having increased 7,4% in the number of transactions, has dropped 38,6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
