International firms advise in the development of Europe?s largest indoor ski facility
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised The Mills Corporation on the financing of "Madrid Xanadú", Europe's largest indoor snow sports facility and commercial centre. The financing involved a Euro 193 million mortgage-secured Loan from Bayerische Hypo-Und Vereinsbank Aktiengesellschaft and various intragroup loans. Date of completion: 12 May 2003.
The Freshfields lawyers involved in the deal were partners Fernando Bautista (finance) and Juan Gómez-Acebo (real estate), who were assisted by associates Armando Albarrán (finance), Carlos Echave (finance) and Luis Vega (real estate).
Uría & Menéndez advised The Mills Corporation in the investment in its controlling interest, as well as the development and construction of the Madrid Xanadu Retail and Leisure Complex in Arroyomolinos, near Madrid. Partner Charles Coward (Madrid) and associate Agustín Redondo (London) led Uría & Menéndez?s corporate and development team. Partners Alberto Nuñez-Lagos (Madrid) and Fernando Calbacho (New York) and associate Rafael Nuñez-Lagos (Madrid) advised on construction matters.
Other firms involved in the development include Dorking firm Downs Commercial (Michael Debens) and Hammonds Madrid office (Marisa Fernández and Fernando Servet), both advisors to PGC, as well as Linklaters and Cuatrecasas (leasing). Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (Javier Ortega) advised Bayerische Hypo-Und Vereinsbank Aktiengesellschaft.
