Marval represents Claxson in lifting of injunction that had suspended the premiere of the Menem Series
Marval O’Farrell Mairal successfully represented Claxson Argentina in the lifting of the injunction that had suspended the broadcasting and publication of the series Menem, starring Leonardo Sbaraglia and produced by Claxson Argentina and Yulgok Media, on the Amazon Prime Video platform.
The case, filed before the National Civil Court, arose from an action brought by one of Carlos Saúl Menem’s co-heirs, who requested the suspension of the premiere, considering that the series could violate the rights of the estate.
However, after evaluating the submissions made by Claxson Argentina, the Court considered that such rights are not prima facie part of the estate and, consequently, granted the producer’s request for the injunction to be lifted and the series to be allowed to premiere.
Amazon Prime Video has recently released the trailer of the series Menem, which is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2025.
The case was handled by an interdisciplinary team from Marval’s Family and Succession and Intellectual Property areas, together with the boutique IP firm Máspero Abogados, in a matter of special relevance for the audiovisual industry.
Partners Gustavo P. Giay, Rodrigo F. García and Martín Vainstein of Marval, and Gabriel Máspero participated in the case. The team was completed with the associates Máximo Capón, Martín Cammarata, Lara Agustina Pollano and Pablo Farinaccia.
