PACHECO COTO announces the innovative merger of Its International Trade and Customs divisions

As part of its innovation strategy, the international law firm PACHECO COTO has announced the merger of its International Trade Law and Customs Law areas of practice, generating added value to its professional services plus a unique solution within the Costa Rican legal market.

The recent launching of PACHECO COTO’s Division of International Trade and Customs results from a growing demand for specialized legal services in foreign trade.

The new division is backed by experience and technical capacity, two qualities valued by corporations in the management of their affairs. The Division’s team of experts are aware of the ever-changing nature of global international trade and the numerous laws and regulations, at the national and international level, that require compliance and are frequently modified. Moreover, the negotiation and ratification of multilateral, bilateral and regional treaties by governments have a significant impact on current rules and regulations affecting businesses.

PACHECO COTO provides specialized advisory to clients enabling them to make well-informed business decisions and to protect their assets, handle possible risks and reduce or eliminate access barriers to goods and services markets that are subject to international treaties in effect.

measure to avoid legal disputes. They also counsel on complex customs procedures in Central America and have actively participated in the drafting and enacting of international agreements. Moreover, they have held important positions in prestigious international trade and customs institutions in Switzerland and Central America.

LLM from the LMU University of Munich, Germany; presently graduating as Phd. from the World Trade Institute, Switzerland.

José Martínez - Expert in Customs and Tax Laws

Prior to joining PACHECO COTO, he was Director General of the National Customs Office of the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Director of the Income Tax Authority. He participated as advisor in the creation of the General Customs Law, Central American Standardized Customs Regulations and Code. He presently holds the position of Deputy Judge of the Customs Administrative Tribunal.

Degree in Law, Universidad de Costa Rica.

María Paula Antillón- Legal Assistant 

Presently studying Law at the Universidad Libre de Derecho y Relaciones Internacionales, Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica.
