THI acquired 100% of Grupo Convermex
On June 5, Tableware Holding International (THI), a Mexican corporation, acquired 100% of Grupo Convermex from its founding Mexican family. Affiliates of J.P. Morgan Partners, the private equity arm of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., are the controlling shareholders of THI. J.P. Morgan Partners partnered with an independent management team for the acquisition of Grupo Convermex.
Grupo Convermex, headquartered in Puebla, Mexico, is the leading manufacturer of expanded polystyrene (ESP) containers in Mexico. The company employs over 1,000 people, manages 17 distribution centers and operates out of three plants in Puebla, Monterrey and Guadalajara.
Mexico?s Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes, S.C. advised J.P. Morgan Partners and THI in all Mexican law aspects of the transaction, while O?Melveny & Myers, with a team including William Kuesel, José Lau and Jason Cohen, provided advise on U.S. law.
Crain, Caton & James represented Grupo Convermex in US law matters, while Santamarina y Steta, S.C. was its legal advisor in Mexico.
