Pérez-Llorca reinforces its commitment to culture and joins the group of patrons of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum

March 09, 2026

The Firm and the Museum have signed a protocol to support the Institution’s mission in promoting the artistic and cultural agenda of one of Portugal’s most renowned cultural centers, which houses one of the world’s most important collections

Pérez-Llorca has signed a patronage agreement with the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, thus reinforcing its commitment to promoting culture in Portugal. The agreement aligns with the Firm’s mission to engage with projects of cultural excellence in the markets where it operates.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum houses a unique collection of six thousand pieces—from Antiquity to the early 20th century. The collection spans civilizations from the Middle East and Far East to European art, with masterpieces by artists such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, and Degas, and the remarkable core of René Lalique. Inaugurated in 1969, the Museum fulfilled its founder’s wish to bring his collection together under one roof, and today it has established itself as an international benchmark in the preservation and dissemination of artistic heritage.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is delighted to welcome the firm to its group of patrons, noting that "Pérez-Llorca is a leading institution in the legal world with a well-known track record in promoting the arts." The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is currently closed for modernization work that includes the renovation of infrastructure, the harmonization of exhibition galleries, and the optimization of visitor flow, resulting in improved conservation conditions and a renewed and more accessible museum experience.

Within the framework of this agreement, Pérez-Llorca and the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum will develop exclusive initiatives aimed at professionals, clients and collaborators of the Firm, such as guided and commented tours, thematic colloquiums and small cultural encounters.

"We are very pleased with this alliance, which reflects our vision that top-tier legal practice and the arts share the same values: rigor, interpretation, and building a legacy. Supporting the Gulbenkian Foundation at this time of renewal means investing in Lisbon’s intellectual and cultural capital," says Constanza Vergara, partner and Chief Operating Officer of Pérez-Llorca.

"This alliance with the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum symbolizes the consolidation of our commitment to Portugal. For Pérez-Llorca, having a comprehensive presence in a market means actively contributing in various dimensions, especially to the country’s cultural capital. By supporting an institution that is a global benchmark and a pillar of Lisbon’s identity, we reaffirm our commitment to being a strategic partner in the development and promotion of the arts ecosystem, both nationally and internationally," said Carlos Vaz de Almeida, Managing Partner of Pérez-Llorca’s Lisbon office.

The signing ceremony took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and was attended by António M. Feijó, President of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; Jorge Vasconcelos, Administrator of the Foundation; and Susana Prudêncio, Deputy Director of Marketing and Information Systems. Representing Pérez-Llorca were Constanza Vergara, Chief Operating Officer; Carlos Vaz de Almeida, Managing Partner of the Lisbon office; and Inés Arruda and Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, Country Co-Chairs of the firm in Portugal.

This patronage adds to other cultural initiatives promoted by Pérez-Llorca, such as support in Spain for the Prado National Museum, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona or the Reina Sofía Higher School of Music, reinforcing the firm’s position as a strategic partner in the arts ecosystem.
