Julio Parrilla joined Pérez-Llorca in 2020. Prior to joining, he provided services at a renowned international firm.

Experience

With more than 20 years of experience, Julio is specialized in providing contractual and litigation advice in the financial and real estate sectors. Julio recurrently advises national and international investors both in investment operations in non-strategic assets (non-performing assets), and in judicial procedures related to the recovery of said investments.

His main areas of practice are the following:

• Investment in non-strategic assets (NPA)

Since 2013, Julio has been advising investors in the main sales processes of both loan portfolios (NPLs) and foreclosed assets (REOs), as well as individual corporate loans (single names), whether syndicated or bilateral.

Julio has experience primarily advising buyers (opportunistic funds, value-added funds and special situations departments of investment banks), actively participating with the investor in all phases of the acquisition process, from the valuation and due diligence phase to the resolution or workout. Julio’s experience includes the negotiation of both the purchase and sale contract and, where applicable, servicing contracts.

• Financial Litigation

Julio recurrently advises acquirers of unpaid debt (NPLs) both in the design of the judicial strategy for the recovery of the acquired credits and in assuming the direction of the judicial procedures aimed at the recovery of the credits and the execution of all types of real guarantees.

In recent years Julio has represented a large part of the main acquirers of mortgage debt before the courts, both in mortgage foreclosure proceedings and in various litigation arising from debt acquisition processes (including litigation relating to the validity of the assignment, to the exercise of the right of withdrawal of disputed credits, to the extinction of guarantees or to the resolution of conflicts derived from the regime of representations and guarantees of the contract for the sale of credits or foreclosed assets). His experience includes bankruptcy aspects, having intervened on behalf of creditors in the main bankruptcy proceedings declared since 2013.

• Real Estate Litigation

Likewise, Julio has extensive experience in litigation arising from real estate investment and development activities, including the resolution of disputes due to breach of purchase and sale contracts, construction, delegated promotion and sale&leaseback as well as liability procedures for construction defects, having represented, mainly, investors. and promoter companies.
