Laura Ruiz joined Pérez-Llorca in 2007 and was appointed partner in January 2021. Throughout these years she has advised national and international clients in all types of litigation and arbitration in civil and commercial matters.
Lately she has focused her work on the bankruptcy and corporate areas. In 2013, Laura enjoyed a secondment in Stockholm, at the headquarters of the Mannheimer Swartling firm.

Experience

• Bankruptcy

Laura’s bankruptcy practice includes both advising debtors (advice in stages prior to bankruptcy, approval of refinancing agreements, preparation and presentation of bankruptcy proceedings and processing of the bankruptcy) and their shareholders and administrators, as well as advising creditors in different phases of the contest.

Laura has acted in all types of judicial procedures within the bankruptcy: challenges to the inventory and the list of creditors, rescission actions or incidents of contract resolution. Likewise, she has intervened in corporate actions within the bankruptcy (challenging corporate agreements) and in the qualification piece of the bankruptcy (either defending the interests of the administrators or the creditors).

In addition, Laura advises, together with the Firm’s transactional teams, on the sale of productive units and, in general, assets, either in the common phase (with judicial authorization) or in the liquidation phase in any of its variants (auction, direct sale or dation in payment).

The specific sectors in which she has provided advice include engineering, real estate, energy, airlines, administrative road concessions, tourism, retail, shipyards, etc.

• Litigation

Laura has advised on civil and commercial litigation of different types such as energy, insurance, sponsor contracts, sponsorship letters, financial derivatives, construction, distribution, liability of social administrators, challenging social agreements, real estate and corporate sales and damage law.

• Arbitration

In addition, Laura has experience in arbitration, whether international or domestic, institutional or ad hoc. At the national level, she has participated in important arbitrations administered by the Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CAM) and the Spanish Court of Arbitration (CEA) in relation to construction, engineering and financial derivative contracts. Internationally, Laura has participated in important arbitrations administered by the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) mainly on corporate law and engineering.
