María de los Ángeles (Maruca) joined Galicia in 2006 as an intern in the Capital Markets and Banking and Finance practices. In 2009 she continued her development as an associate and was appointed partner of both practices in December 2022, effective January 1 2023.
Her practice specializes in local and international public offerings of securities, both in the debt and equity markets, as well as advising issuers and institutional investors on regulatory compliance issues in the securities market. Likewise, her practice also consists of local and cross-border bank financings, representing both debtors and financial institutions.
She worked in 2009 as a professional visitor in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San Jose, Costa Rica and participated in the 2013-2014 program of international associates of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in its New York office.

She holds a law degree with honors from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City (2009) and an LL.M. degree from The University of Chicago Law School, United States.
She is tenured professor of the securitization module in the postgraduate commercial specialization at the Escuela Libre de Derecho.
Maruca is recognized as an "Associate to Watch" in The 2023 Chambers Latin American Guide in the Capital Markets practice. Likewise, The Legal 500 2023 Latin American Guide considers her as an expert lawyer in the same practice. The specialized publication IFLR1000 recognizes her as "Notable Practitioner" in her practice.
