BLP advises the Agua Tica project – the first water fund in the Region

May 11, 2016

BLP had the honor of being invited to design the legal structure for this major project, which brings together the country’s private and public sectors around a common cause.

This initiative was proposed by the Ministry of Environment, the Foundation for the Development of the Central Volcanic Range (Fundecor), and the Costa Rica-USA Cooperation Foundation (CRUSA).

This pioneering project of national relevance intends to contribute to the efficient management of water resources, as well as to protect water sources located in the sub-basins of Río Grande and Río Varilla, helping to ensure the quality and quantity of water for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM).

BLP’s team consisted of partner Mauricio Salas - expert in Environment Law – as well as associates Julio Castellanos - Bank and Finance Law specialist - and Esteban Alfaro - Public Law specialist.
