Construction of second bridge over Panama Canal

Icaza, Gonzalez-Ruiz & Alemán handled the legal counseling for BILFINGER BERGER AG, a German construction company, in the international public bidding for the construction of the second bridge over the Panama Canal.

The construction of the bridge was granted to BILFINGER for an approximate cost of US$100 million and an estimated construction time of 30 months. The bridge shall be built over Corte Culebra, near the Panama Canal Locks of Pedro Miguel, and shall have an approximate length of 1km and three lines each way. Partners Joaquín Díaz S. and Gabriel A. González-Ruiz were the lawyers from Icaza involved in the transaction.
