Marval O’Farrell Mairal advised CGC in the acquisition of Sinopec Argentina
On June 30, 2021, Compañía General de Combustibles S.A. (CGC) finalized the acquisition of Sinopec Argentina Exploration and Production. Marval O’Farrell Mairal, through its partners Francisco A. Macías, Diego A. Chighizola and María Macarena García Mirri, assisted CGC in this transaction.
Sinopec Argentina is the fifth largest oil producer in the country. With its acquisition, CGC will increase its production to more than 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and its proven crude oil reserves by more than 50 %.
Sinopec Argentina’s assets cover more than 4,600 square kilometers, mostly located in the Gulf of San Jorge Basin. It also holds a stake in Termap, the operator of the Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz) and Caleta Córdova (Chubut) port terminals.
