Pérez-Llorca enters the Colombian market by integrating with Gómez-Pinzón

May 30, 2025

Spanish firm Pérez-Llorca has announced its entry into Colombia after reaching an integration agreement with Gómez-Pinzón, one of the leading law firms in the country. This is an unprecedented transaction in the region’s legal sector, as it is the first full merger -legal and economic- between a Spanish firm and a top Colombian law firm.

The alliance will allow Pérez-Llorca to establish itself in Colombia with an initial team of 120 lawyers, distributed in offices in Bogotá and Medellín. The firm aims to build, together with Gómez-Pinzón, one of the strongest law practices in the country, with the capacity to lead complex transactions, cross-border litigation and high-level regulatory advice for both local and international clients.

The integration, which is expected to close in the coming weeks, contemplates that all Gómez-Pinzón partners will become partners of Pérez-Llorca, thus consolidating a single organizational, economic and professional structure.

This step reinforces Pérez-Llorca’s presence in Latin America and is part of a roadmap that has recently included its landing in Mexico, the opening of offices in Portugal, and the consolidation of its international network in strategic locations such as London, New York, Brussels and Singapore.

An unprecedented operation in the Colombian legal market

This integration marks an unparalleled precedent: it is the first time that a top-tier Colombian firm joins forces with a Latin American firm, bringing together complementary strengths and capabilities.

Gómez-Pinzón brings to the equation a deep knowledge of the local environment, a consolidated reputation in the market, and a professional team recognized for its excellence. On the other hand, Pérez-Llorca adds an expanding international platform and a strategic vision focused on building a regional model of a leading firm in the Iberian and Latin American markets.

Both firms enjoy solid recognition in international rankings: they have 30 mentions in Band 1 and 2 in Chambers & Partners (Europe and Latin America), as well as 37 rankings in Tier 1 and 2 in Legal 500. Gómez-Pinzón is listed as an "Elite" firm in Latin Lawyer 250, as is Pérez-Llorca Mexico.

Leadership voices

Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Managing Partner of Pérez-Llorca, highlights:
"This integration will allow us to compete for leadership in Colombia and consolidate Pérez-Llorca in the Latin American region, advancing our international growth strategy. We aspire, together with Gómez-Pinzón, to build a firm that is the natural choice of major clients, both in domestic and international matters, in their most complex transactions, litigation or regulatory matters; we also want to be the ideal platform to attract the best professionals and to develop their careers with us. Beyond this, we intend to be a Colombian firm, not a foreign one, and to make a positive contribution to the development of this legal market".

Mauricio Piñeros, Managing Partner of Gómez-Pinzón, underlines:

"The combination of Pérez-Llorca’s experience and capabilities with our deep knowledge of the local environment, added to the talent and vision of our team, will allow us to accompany our clients in increasingly complex and cross-border matters, and we will be able to offer our professionals a career of international development. We are convinced that this integration will mark a before and after in the evolution of the legal practice in the region".

Iván Delgado, International Executive Partner of Pérez-Llorca, notes:
"The integration with Gómez-Pinzón reinforces our objective of consolidating a solid regional firm model, with the capacity to offer a differential value proposition in the Iberian and Latin American markets, with a special focus on South America. We share with Gómez-Pinzón values, ambition and a common vision of the advice we want to offer our clients, and together we aspire to become the local firm of reference for international investors in the region".

International expansion: a consolidated strategy

This operation is part of an internationalization strategy led by Iván Delgado, which in recent years has involved the integration of the Mexican firm González Calvillo, the opening of the Lisbon office and the strengthening of its global presence with offices in key financial centers such as London, New York, Brussels and Singapore.

Thanks to this trajectory, the firm closed 2024 with a pro forma global turnover of 165.4 million euros, representing a 33% growth compared to the previous year. International business accounted for 20 % of total revenues.

In Mexico, the integration with González Calvillo initially incorporated around 100 lawyers and a total of 160 professionals, a figure that has increased to almost 190 after one year of integration, with the promotion and incorporation of 10 new partners.

In Portugal, the Lisbon office has 40 professionals and has established itself as a platform with full transactional capacity and experience in complex litigation, strengthening coverage in the Iberian Peninsula and in Portuguese-speaking markets.

A regional firm with global reach

With the completion of the integration with Gómez-Pinzón, Pérez-Llorca will have 11 offices and close to 1,000 professionals, consolidating an Ibero-American regional firm model with comprehensive advice in Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican, Colombian and European law.
Its offices will be located in:
Barcelona, Bogota, Brussels, Mexico City, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Medellin, Monterrey, New York and Singapore.

Talent and commitment to Colombia

Both Gómez-Pinzón and Pérez-Llorca share a long-term vision focused on the professional development of their talent. Colombian lawyers integrated into the new structure will have access to the same career opportunities, training and international mobility as the rest of the global team.

Likewise, the commitment of both firms to the Colombian social environment will be maintained and strengthened, reinforcing pro bono programs, local law firms and initiatives of national impact, with the aim of actively contributing to the development of the country.
