Thompson & Knight Welcomes Finance Partner to Mexico City Office

Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Jorge A. Labastida has joined the Firm’s Mexico City office as a Partner in the Finance Practice Group.

 “With nearly 30 years of legal experience, Jorge will be a valued asset to the Firm’s Mexico City office as it continues to grow,” said Luis F. Gomar, Thompson & Knight’s Mexico City Office Leader and a Partner in the Firm’s International Energy Practice Group. “His banking and finance expertise will further strengthen our platform in Mexico, and we look forward to utilizing his talents as a member of the team.”

Labastida focuses his practice on asset-backed and structured cross-border finance, project finance, and real estate finance, including securitizations, multi-jurisdictional tax-advantaged finance, and structured leasing. He also specializes in trustee and bondholder agent representation and handles work relating to derivatives, treasury products, restructurings, workouts, M&A, and private equity transactions.

Immediately prior to joining Thompson & Knight, Labastida served as a Partner in the Finance Practice Group at Haynes and Boone, SC in Mexico City. Prior to that he was the founding Partner of the Banking and Finance Practice at Bufete Labastida, S.C. and a Partner in the Banking and Finance Practice Group at Jauregui, Navarrete y Nader, S.C.
