For more than 100 years, Bolet & Terrero has led an approach to intellectual property management that combines traditional values such as integrity and loyalty with contemporary values and practices that recognise the importance of clients and of developing networks of allies.
In 1915, Venezuelans Leopoldo Terrero and his first cousin Julio Bolet founded Bolet & Terrero, a patent and trademark registration firm, in Caracas. It was the first of its kind in Venezuela. Leopoldo and Julio had lived in the United States for many years before returning to Venezuela a few years before founding the firm.
Years later, as the second decade of the 20th century began and Venezuela became a global oil power, Bolet & Terrero played a key role in protecting the trademarks of companies starting operations in the country.
Julio Bolet died in 1935, leaving no descendants. Leopoldo Terrero died in 1944, leaving three children: Leopoldo, Carolina and Eurípides. The youngest, Eurípides, took over the firm’s leadership and management and remained in the role without interruption for 49 years. After the difficult postwar years, he finally achieved the firm’s growth and regional expansion goals.
Since 1999, Manuel Polanco, Bolet & Terrero’s current general manager, has led a process to formalise the organisation and professionalise its human capital, with the aim of transforming Bolet & Terrero into a modern firm prepared for future challenges.
Today, Bolet & Terrero is a leading intellectual property firm in Venezuela and Latin America, with more than 100 years of experience in the field. It provides high-quality legal services across all areas of intellectual property and has particular strengths in key areas such as the registration, management and protection of trademarks, patents and copyrights, as well as the fight against piracy.
Aware of changing trends in intellectual property, Bolet & Terrero has also focused on developing expertise in the effective management of intellectual property in areas such as new technologies, the pharmaceutical industry, entertainment and sports.
