FROM 1981, FROM INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO A FULL-SERVICE FIRM
During its more than 30 years in the market, ZACARIAS & FERNÁNDEZ has remained firmly committed to promoting, strengthening and advancing intellectual property in Paraguay. The firm believes that only through unwavering respect for intellectual property rights can a political, economic and social system be built that encourages the continuous generation of ideas and inventions that contribute to the material and intellectual progress of nations.
In Paraguay, that conviction has become the firm’s mission and raison d’être. It has actively advised various Paraguayan state bodies on the formulation of policies and enactment of new laws in line with the TRIPS Agreement.
In December 1996, together with other distinguished local colleagues, the firm established the Paraguayan national group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Its lawyers now participate actively in various committees and groups within other organizations that promote and protect intellectual property in its various fields, including ASIPI, ASPI, ABA, ABPI, AAAPI, AIPLA, ECTA, FIA, IPO, INTA, ITMA, LES, APRAM, GRUR, PTMG, MARQUES and IACC.
The firm also advances this mission through academia, where several of its lawyers teach intellectual property law at leading law faculties in Paraguay.
Over the past decade, the firm has successfully expanded its practice into general legal services, primarily corporate and litigation matters. This expansion has been driven by its desire to meet all its clients’ legal needs. Those clients have consistently valued the firm’s commitment to excellence and, above all, its honesty.
Its fundamental objective remains the same: to maintain a competitive and efficient legal team, with its clients’ needs always in mind.
