Andrés Marroquín

Within the firm, Andres has been involved in analyzing the structuring of loans and complex security arrangements, particularly through trusts. He has also been involved in analyzing Guatemala’s insolvency and distribution contract legislation.

Andrés joined Arias Guatemala in October 2021 as part of the legal team responsible for analyzing banking, finance, and securities and commodities market matters. His contribution to the work has included analyzing the legal feasibility of securities transactions in Guatemala, the application of payment and collection systems, and the structuring of financings. Since joining Arias, Andrés has been a key member of the transactional team.

He is passionate about academia and has served as an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Universidad Francisco Marroquín. He is also interested in public international law, which led him to participate in the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO Law (American champion), on international trade, and the International Criminal Court Moot Court, on international criminal law.

• Bachelor’s degree in Legal and Social Sciences and the academic degrees of Attorney and Notary, Cum Laude, from the Faculty of Law of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
