Her versatility has enabled her to excel in a range of advisory and consulting work for trade associations, government and companies, including litigation, transfer pricing disputes, mergers and acquisitions, tax policy design, the digital economy, capital markets and international matters. Clients, trade associations and government authorities regularly consult her on their most critical decisions and entrust her with designing regulatory, litigation and transactional strategies. Catalina enjoys considerable credibility not only with colleagues and clients, but also with the authorities responsible for implementing public policy in the country.
Catalina has been recognised as one of the country’s most influential people. She has taught at all of Colombia’s leading universities and has been a visiting professor at universities and institutions around the world. She is committed to ongoing study and learning. She has served as president and as chair of the Academic Commission of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law, of which she is an honorary member. Her academic work is reflected in publications in specialist books and journals in countries including Colombia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, the United States, India, Venezuela and Bolivia, among others.
Catalina has a strong grasp of technology and the digital economy, which she has consistently applied in her professional work. Her training in these fields covers not only legal but also technical aspects, thanks to executive courses she regularly takes at leading universities around the world. She is an attorney capable of understanding the changes the world has undergone in recent years and anticipating the challenges they pose for companies and institutions.
Her experience as an arbitrator and counsel in arbitral proceedings has also been noted for its rigour and precision. Catalina served as an arbitrator in the most significant arbitral tribunal in the country’s recent history. She has been appointed as a technical expert in international tribunals.
