Oscar Aitken

Partner at Carey and head of the Construction and Engineering / Employment and Immigration groups. His practice also includes litigation and arbitration, contracts and general civil practice.

In construction and engineering, Mr. Aitken has extensive experience with contracts covering all phases of engineering work, as well as all types of construction and infrastructure contracts, including Design-Build, EPC, EPCM and BOT. His practice spans the initial development of projects, tenders (including public tenders and PPP projects), contract negotiation and drafting, claims management and dispute resolution.

Mr. Aitken also has extensive experience in real estate, working on projects as diverse as conservation park development and residential, office and apartment building, hotel and industrial developments. His work includes title reviews, purchase and sale agreements, promises to purchase, leases, financing, mortgages, tax structures, land use and permits, among other matters.

His employment and immigration practice includes collective bargaining, trade unions, unfair labor practices, compensation and benefits, discrimination and, more generally, violations of employees’ fundamental rights, termination of employment contracts, workplace accidents and occupational diseases, employment litigation, and obtaining visas and work permits for foreign personnel.
