Lefosse, one of Brazil’s leading full-service law firms, announces the expansion of its Intellectual Property and Dispute Resolution teams with the arrival of partner Ricardo Nunes. Licensed attorney in both Brazil and New York (NY State Bar Association), Ricardo specializes in Intellectual Property and acts mainly in litigation involving trademarks, patents, trade secrets and unfair competition.

"We have strengthened our legal team and consolidated ourselves as a full-service firm with a very solid litigation structure. This hiring allows us to offer even more complete solutions to our clients, especially in complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes, as well as adding capacity to our transactional and advisory areas," says Rodrigo Junqueiramanaging partner of Lefosse

Brazil is experiencing a special moment in the area of Intellectual Property. The Judiciary has been consolidating new understandings on the matter, with changes to the rules established by the INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property) such as reducing the time taken to examine patent and trademark applications, which has led to a considerable increase in the number of lawsuits involving such issues. These disputes tend to be complex and often become multi-jurisdictional, with Brazil being an important player on the global dispute board.

"We are experiencing a fairly significant rise in litigation involving intellectual property, related to telecommunications, pharmaceutical and biological products, medical devices, among others. And the synergy between litigation and the other areas of the firm strengthens our ability to meet the market’s most challenging demands with excellence," says Ricardo Nunes, a partner in Lefosse’s Intellectual Property and Dispute Resolution areas.

"The possibility of working alongside Lefosse’s more than 400 excellent lawyers, with specialties in the most diverse areas of law, allows us to offer multidisciplinary and more complete solutions, with the scale and structure that certain projects require. The presence of a large litigation team not only in Rio de Janeiro, home to the INPI and the specialized courts of the Federal Court, but also in São Paulo and Brasília, as well as other states, will also be a differential for us to obtain even better results for our clients," concludes Nunes.
