About the BFE+ MOOT

The BFE+ MOOT combines professional and academic practice, creating a space where law and economics students from all over the world have the opportunity to test their knowledge in front of demanding juries of lawyers and economists specialised in competition and regulatory issues.

The main objective of MOOT is to give university students the opportunity to experience an interdisciplinary competition as close as possible to real practice. In the nine editions of the event, students from multiple Spanish-speaking countries have participated, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru.

In the 2023 edition, the University of Chile won first place in a competition involving 112 economics and law students from 15 universities in Latin America and Spain, as well as 117 local and international referees. The Universidad Diego Portales (Chile), the Universidad de Piura (Paraguay) and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru) are other universities that have won awards during these nine editions of the Free Competition MOOT. Other outstanding universities have also participated in the event, such as the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain), the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ecuador (Ecuador) and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), among many others.

This project was awarded "Best International Legal Initiative" at the last edition of the National Law Gala (Legal Marcom Awards).
