Women in a Legal World expands into Latin America with the launch of Costa Rica Chapter

The Chapter will be presided by BLP Partner Adriana Castro:
"Together, we are committed to building a more egalitarian and diverse future in the legal profession"

Spanish non-profit organisation Women in a Legal World, founded by lawyers Marlen Estevez and Clara Cerdán, will begin its international expansion in Latin America with the launch of a Costa Rica Chapter, to be led by BLP Partner Adriana Castro.

In the words of Adriana, "it is an indescribable honour to be part of the launch of this prestigious organisation in Costa Rica. We have witnessed the significant achievements made by Women in a Legal World in Spain, thanks to the tireless work of exceptional women lawyers. We are confident that in Costa Rica we will achieve equally impressive results, as we have some of the country’s most prominent women lawyers in our ranks. It is especially exciting to have Marlen Estevez, an undisputed pioneer in our field, on board for the launch. Her experience and leadership are invaluable, and her contribution will greatly enrich our chapter. Together, we are committed to building a more egalitarian and diverse future in the legal profession, and we couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds for us in Costa Rica".

WLW President Marlen Estevez commented: "We are thrilled to announce the opening of the Women in a Legal World chapter in Costa Rica, led by the talented Adriana Castro. This new chapter represents an important step in our mission to empower and connect women in the legal world. Together, we are building a more equal and diverse future for the profession".

WLW aims to achieve a diverse legal sector at all levels, where it is no longer exceptional to see a woman at the head of a law firm, running a law school, chairing the jury of a major award, or leading the legal service of a listed company.

To this end, WLW believes that it is essential for women to get to know each other, connect, improve the relationship between them among professionals, inspire each other, and give a boost to those who come after them so that the sector transforms its physiognomy into a more diverse, rich, and balanced one, with equal opportunities to reach decision-making bodies.

It seeks to have female references in all legal fields and specialities, at the debating tables, in the media, in the cloisters of business schools, in chairs and on boards.

Its members are women professionals in the legal sector, with the capacity to influence, who wish to transform the environment in which they operate, creating the conditions that allow all professionals, men and women, to have the same opportunity to shine and achieve success in their careers, thus shaping a model that satisfies everyone.
