Pérez-Llorca prepares to open a Lisbon office in 2024

The new office will be headed by Gonçalo Godinho and will practice Portuguese Law

Pérez-Llorca has announced the imminent opening of its own office in Lisbon, a further step in its growth and internationalisation strategy.

The Firm will have a whole 2,000 square metre building in the prime area of Lisbon, specifically at 21 Barata Salgueiro Street.

In order to start shaping this project, the Firm incorporated Gonçalo Godinho last June, a partner with more than 20 years of international experience in the Brazilian, Portuguese, British and American markets. Godinho will combine his work in Pérez-Llorca’s international project with the development of the Firm’s strategy in Portuguese-speaking markets and advising clients on commercial matters, mainly in energy and infrastructure. Gonçalo is based in Lisbon.

The new office will gradually incorporate its team from summer 2024, and the refurbishment work is expected to take approximately one year.

With this step, the Firm secures a physical environment from which to build a team and grow its practice gradually without space restrictions.

Pérez-Llorca continues its international projection with its own presence in the three financial capitals of the world: London, New York and Singapore, as well as in Brussels, the European regulatory capital, in Spain and in Portugal.

The Lisbon office, from which Portuguese law will be practised, will seek to increase the work that the Firm has already been doing in this market in order to cover the entire Iberian Peninsula and rely on the synergies that arise in both countries to offer clients and potential clients global advice on their transactions and disputes.

This office will also serve as a bridge to strengthen the Firm’s relationship with the Brazilian market and other Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions.
