Marval, Bruchou and 11 international firms line up for Globant’s IPO
Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal and DLA Piper LLP have helped Globant become the first Latin American software company to go public on the New York stock exchange. The underwriters were advised by Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
The initial public offering, saw Globant raise US$58.6 million, which it will use to repay debts and cover other corporate expenses, as well as to fund potential future acquisitions. The deal was structured as both a primary and secondary offering, the latter of which saw Globant’s shareholders sell off part of their stakes.
Although Globant is headquartered in Argentina, 90 per cent of its clients are located outside the country, and it has operations in Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Mexico, the UK and the US.
The IPO also demonstrates Argentina’s position as an emerging player on the tech scene given the country is known for its highly educated, tech-savvy population. Since it was founded 11 years ago, Globant has developed software for social media, cloud computing gaming and big-data companies.
