Cecilia M. Mairal

Cecilia Mairal is one of the most experienced partners in Marval’s Banking & Finance Department.

Cecilia plays a highly active role in advising banks on their private banking and investment businesses, as well as multinational companies and family-owned businesses on the establishment of investment vehicles, cross-border bank financings, international securities transactions and debt restructurings. She also has extensive experience in sensitive regulatory matters and complex international banking litigation. Cecilia is the client relationship partner for several of the firm’s key clients and leads the teams advising them on complex, multidisciplinary matters.

Education

• She graduated with a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires and earned a master’s degree from Harvard Law School. From 1991 to 1992, she worked as a lawyer in Linklaters’ London offices and, from 1992 to 1994, moved to its New York offices.

Academic Activities

• A co-chair of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Securities Law Committee until December 31, 2016, and currently an officer of the IBA’s Capital Markets Forum, Cecilia frequently speaks on securities markets and banking at the International Financial Law Conferences and the association’s Annual Conferences.

Awards and Recognition

• Cecilia has been recognized on multiple occasions by leading industry publications. Chambers Latin America 2017 describes her as “an excellent lawyer.” In 2017, she was named Latin America’s Best Finance Lawyer at the Americas Women in Business Awards, organized by Euromoney.
