Gabriel Gotlib has been a member of Marval O’Farrell Mairal since 1997 and a partner since 2000. He specializes in tax, corporate and financial law.
He has extensive experience in tax advice, advising banks and local and foreign companies in a range of sectors, including real estate, retail and software. He also advises on financing, international transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining the firm, he worked at Ernst & Young LLP New York as an Argentine representative at its international tax planning headquarters from 1994 to 1995, at Ernst & Young’s Buenos Aires offices from 1995 to 1997, and at Carregal & Funes de Rioja in 1997. He has served as an external adviser to the Federal Government on reforms relating to the taxation of financial activities and international transactions.
He was a professor of taxation of financial instruments in the postgraduate tax course at the University of Buenos Aires School of Economics. He is a professor of tax planning in the postgraduate tax course at the Austral University School of Law. He is the author of the books "Procedimiento Tributario", "Nuevos instrumentos financieros", "Aspectos Internacionales de la Tributación Argentina", "Vicios y Mitos de la Interpretación Tributaria" and "Tratado de Fideicomiso." He has presented at numerous conferences in Argentina and abroad. He has published articles on the taxation of financing and international taxation in magazines in Argentina and abroad.
Both a lawyer and a certified public accountant, he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1990 and 1991, respectively, and from the International Tax Program (ITP) at Harvard University School of Law in 1994.
He is a member of the International Fiscal Association and served as the Argentine reporter at the International Fiscal Association Congress held in Munich in 2000 on the taxation of hybrid instruments.
He is a member of the Academic Committee of the master’s program in tax law at UTDT.
