Héctor A. Mairal

He joined Marval O’Farrell Mairal in 1991 as a partner and member of the board of directors. An expert in administrative and corporate law, he has advised domestic and international companies on highly complex and significant matters, including mergers, acquisitions and sales of banks and companies, investment promotion projects, the formation of joint ventures, commercial contracts, loans and financings.

In the hydrocarbons sector, he has advised on various project finance transactions, transfers of concessions and licences, privatisations and other matters.

In administrative law, he has advised on numerous public tenders and administrative contracts, as well as related litigation.

He was previously a partner at Estudio Klein & Mairal and also worked at the Foreign Investment Promotion Service of the Ministry of Economy and at the National Directorate of Foreign Trade.

Academic Activities

• Since 1965, Dr Mairal has taught administrative law at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires, where he held the chair as a full professor from 1978 to 2008.
• He has spoken on topics in his field at numerous conferences and seminars in Argentina and abroad.

Memberships

• He is currently a member of the Argentine Association of Administrative Law, the Argentine Association of Comparative Law, the Buenos Aires Bar Association and the International Bar Association.

Publications

• He is the author of several books and numerous articles published in specialist journals in Argentina and abroad.
