Juan Carlos is a Lawyer from the Universidad del Rosario, a Specialist in Criminal Law from the Externado de Colombia University and a Master in Criminal Law from the Pompeu Fabra and Central Universities of Barcelona.
Former Dean of the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the Universidad del Rosario of Bogotá. He has served as Attorney General of the Nation (e) and Deputy Attorney General of the Nation.
He has been a Joint Judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and of the Sectional Council of the Judiciary. Member of the Commission for Monitoring the Accusatory Criminal System.
He was an advisor to the Ministry of the Interior and Justice for the reform and implementation of the adversarial criminal system and is a member of the Commission drafting the Code of Criminal Procedure.
