Alessandri trains PDI officers in Chile to detect counterfeit alcoholic beverages
Alessandri, in partnership with AACS, trained PDI officers to detect counterfeit alcoholic beverages, strengthening the protection of consumers, brands and intellectual property.

The Chilean firm Alessandri held a training session for officers of the Policía de Investigaciones de Chile (PDI), aimed at improving the identification of counterfeit alcoholic beverages and helping combat illicit trade.
The session took place at the premises of the Brigada de Investigación Criminal (BICRIM) de San Ramón, where the Alessandri team covered the main methods used to counterfeit alcoholic beverages, the risks associated with their sale and ways to distinguish authentic products from imitations.
The training focused on products from brands represented by the Alliance Against Counterfeit Spirits (AACS), an organisation dedicated to combating the counterfeiting of spirits.
A key part of the session was the practical examination of samples of genuine and counterfeit products from various brands. Officers were able to compare packaging, labels, caps and security features, identifying the characteristics that can be used to verify the authenticity of the beverages.
The exercise covered the various techniques used to counterfeit products and familiarised investigators with identification features that may be relevant to their inspection and investigative work.
The initiative forms part of Alessandri’s work on intellectual property, rights enforcement, and combating piracy and counterfeiting, areas in which cooperation between brand owners and authorities is particularly important.
The firm highlighted the importance of these training sessions as a means of strengthening public-private cooperation in tackling illicit trade, protecting intellectual property rights and contributing to consumer safety.
In its post about the session, Alessandri named Hernán Torres, Eliseo Albornoz and Sara Villarroel as members of its team involved in the initiative.
