LATIN COUNSEL is pleased to sponsor the launch of a new edition of the international professional training course “Structuring an M&A Deal” (Fifth Edition).
The SIJUSA Continuing Education Center (Panama) is pleased to announce the launch of the fifth edition of the international professional training course (delivered remotely): “Structuring an M&A Deal”.
Despite the growth in this type of deal, whether agreed between local parties or involving Common Law counterparties, training tools specifically designed to train corporate lawyers to maximise their individual and collective performance remain scarce in most Latin American jurisdictions.
This innovative course examines in detail the stages involved in transferring a controlling equity interest in a target company, whether in a purely local context or one involving foreign companies or investors.
This theoretical and practical training course is ideal for Latin American lawyers (or students nearing graduation) starting their careers in the corporate sector, as well as legal professionals specialising in areas such as employment, antitrust, litigation, intellectual property, real estate and corporate compliance, among others, who regularly take part in structuring these deals, particularly during the due diligence stage.
The four previous editions have been attended by in-house corporate lawyers and members of leading firms from the following jurisdictions: Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay and Peru.
The course comprises four interactive, theory-and-practice sessions, which will be streamed live via ZOOM. Classes will take place from 23 to 26 January 2024 inclusive, starting at 3 p.m. Panama local time.
The course will be taught by corporate lawyer Rodolfo G. Papa, who specialises in structuring M&A deals and is an author, university professor and Latin Counsel correspondent in Argentina.
Rodolfo shares his thoughts on the launch of this new edition of the course below:
“…The SIJUSA (Panama) team and I are very pleased to launch this fifth edition of the course at the start of 2024. Dozens of corporate lawyers from most Latin American jurisdictions have already taken part. We add more content and updates with each edition, covering a subject as dynamic and complex in the corporate world as M&A transactions, whose scope often extends beyond local law, since we regularly advise Common Law investors. The course is ideal for corporate lawyers starting their careers at leading firms and companies in Latin America. The registration fee is very competitive given the amount of content participants will receive…”
The course is also available in an in-house format for law firms and organisations providing professional services in connection with these transactions. It has already been successfully delivered in-company for leading firms in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Uruguay.
