Vivanco & Vivanco strengthens its artificial intelligence and legal technology strategy, focusing on ROI, security and professional oversight
Vivanco & Vivanco strengthens its commitment to AI and legal technology across six jurisdictions, with a focus on return on investment, confidentiality, and professional oversight.

Over the past two years, Vivanco & Vivanco (V&V) has pursued a sustained investment strategy in artificial intelligence and legal technology across its practice areas and six jurisdictions.
The firm’s approach combines technology adoption with a structured assessment of return on investment, protection of clients’ confidential information, professional secrecy and compliance with the applicable regulatory frameworks.
A hybrid infrastructure for different types of legal work
V&V’s technology strategy is based on a combination of general-purpose artificial intelligence tools and specialised solutions designed to meet the specific needs of each practice.
The main platforms in use include Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, which the firm uses for due diligence, corporate structure analysis, regulatory compliance and project feasibility assessments.
The tool is also used to draft legal documents, prepare corporate resolutions and agreements, produce internal memoranda, analyse US tax directives, conduct multidisciplinary legal research and support specific projects developed by different practice areas.
According to the firm, Anthropic’s platform was selected, among other factors, for its ability to handle complex legal analysis, large volumes of documentary context and customised instructions.
Google Gemini, meanwhile, is integrated into Google Workspace to support primarily administrative processes, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, summarising emails and optimising internal workflows.
In its immigration practice, V&V also uses VisaLaw.ai, a specialised tool for analysis in that area.
The firm’s technology roadmap also includes assessing and piloting new artificial intelligence capabilities focused on corporate transactions, tax compliance analysis and the delivery of legal services.
A four-stage governance model
The firm’s technology implementation is overseen by Rafaela Tello, whose responsibilities include AI and technology, legal rankings, business development and vendor management, subject to approval by V&V’s partners.
The firm has structured its technology adoption model around four stages.
The first is to assess each tool against specific criteria: time savings, cost reduction, quality improvement, data security, integration with existing systems, scalability and compliance with regional regulations such as the GDPR and local privacy laws.
The second stage involves limited pilot programmes, in which small groups of lawyers and staff test new software before any wider rollout.
The third involves ongoing reviews of adoption levels, actual ROI against initial projections, emerging compliance risks and potential opportunities for optimisation.
Finally, the firm maintains a principle of professional oversight: lawyers retain control over legal strategy, client advice and the final work product.
Under this model, artificial intelligence serves as an analytical and operational support tool but does not replace a lawyer’s professional judgment.
Data protection and confidentiality
A central pillar of Vivanco & Vivanco’s technology strategy is protecting client information.
The firm applies protocols designed to prevent confidential data from being used to train artificial intelligence models.
For tools such as Claude, use is limited to real-time interactions within the parameters set by the firm.
Relationships with technology providers are also subject to Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) that include provisions on non-retention of information, protection of professional secrecy and audit rights.
The infrastructure also includes integrations through secure APIs and encryption both in transit and at rest.
Measuring artificial intelligence in terms of ROI
V&V’s strategy goes beyond measuring tool adoption to quantify its economic impact.
The firm compares the time its lawyers spend on specific processes before and after integrating artificial intelligence.
The time saved is then measured against the hourly value of professional time and the cost of the platforms used.
This system makes it possible to assess whether a given tool delivers a measurable return and whether its implementation is justified from an operational and financial perspective.
The model reflects a growing trend in the legal sector: moving from an experimental phase of artificial intelligence to one in which firms are beginning to demand measurable results, formal governance protocols and specific security and confidentiality controls.
