Jus Mundi welcomes Annie Lespérance as Head of the Americas

Jus Mundi, the provider of legal data and analytics in international law and arbitration, is delighted to announce Annie Lespérance as its new Head of the Americas.

Based in the vibrant heart of New York City, Annie is poised to spearhead Jus Mundi’s regional expansion.

Annie brings an illustrious track record that spans diverse legal arenas. Her most recent role saw her excel as the Head of Latin America at Omni Bridgeway, showcasing her exceptional business development, commercial and legal talents. Before this, she honed her legal skills as an attorney at Cabinet Yves Fortier and legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Throughout her career, Annie has been involved in a spectrum of arbitration cases under various procedural arbitration rules, such as ICC, ICSID, and CAS, to name a few.

Yet, Annie’s contribution to the world of arbitration doesn’t end in her past roles. She’s a certified mediator, has served as an appointed arbitrator, and holds memberships in prominent arbitration rosters, including the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement and ICDR Canada’s panel of arbitrators. Admitted to both the Quebec and Paris Bar, her academic journey began at the Université de Montréal, where she earned her law degree and later obtained her LL.M. cum laude from Leiden University.

Beyond her professional life, Annie is a fervent hiker with an adventurous spirit. In fact, she once came face-to-face with a bear during one of her escapades: a true testament to her unwavering enthusiasm for exploring new terrains. With Annie at the helm, Jus Mundi is set to embark on an exciting journey in the Americas, brimming with new opportunities and adventures.

Annie has also delved into her vision and plans for Jus Mundi in the Americas, and her strategies to make them a reality.

What’s your plan for Latin America?

Our plan for Latin America is to continue forging strong partnerships with arbitral institutions and associations, as well as professionals, throughout the region. We also look forward to strengthening our relationship with existing partners like the Center for Arbitration and Conciliation (CAC) of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB) , Centro de Arbitraje de México (CAM), the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr), and the Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA). We intend to tailor our services to meet the unique needs of the Latin American legal community, including language-wise and providing localized content and support.

Additionally, we will actively engage in knowledge-sharing and educational initiatives to empower legal practitioners with the latest tools and insights, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the international law and arbitration legal ecosystem in Latin America. Finally, we hope to increase the representation of Latin American arbitration professionals on Jus Connect to showcase the unique skillsets coming from the region for business development and increased generation of revenues.

What’s your vision for Jus Mundi in the Americas?

In the Americas, I am committed to reinforcing Jus Mundi’s reputation as the go-to destination for legal data and analytics, particularly in commercial arbitration and international law. Through the sophisticated Jus Mundi platform and further amplified by Jus Connect, we strive to provide the arbitration community with unparalleled tools for advanced research, expansive professional search, thorough due diligence, and forward-thinking business development.

The US has consistently been our strongest market. Our database offers a broad spectrum of data for the region and we’ve gathered a substantial number of domestic arbitration cases in the country. To illustrate, we have over 7,000 cases linked to the United States, of which more than 60% are commercial arbitrations. This is thanks to our strategic partnerships with esteemed institutions, including IBA, AAA-ICDR, and ICSID. The increasing demand from domestic arbitration lawyers has created the need for an expansion of Jus Mundi’s services in this region.

Beyond simplifying access to arbitration and legal resources, our pursuit is to enhance research techniques and advocate for decisions deeply rooted in data intelligence, with the ultimate goal of heightening transparency standards across the legal scene in the Americas.

What made you join Jus Mundi?

I’m excited to join Jus Mundi because of their pioneering approach to legal technology and data analytics, exemplified by Jus-AI, an innovative artificial intelligence tool that revolutionizes the way the global arbitration community shapes strategies, deeply resonated with me. I was drawn to the opportunity to be part of a diverse team that is shaping the future of legal research and analytics, and to their commitment to transforming how professionals access information. I’m eager to contribute to this dynamic team and catalyze Jus Mundi’s growth in the Americas.

Where will you be traveling next?

Over the next quarter, I’ll be journeying with colleagues across Canada, the United States, and Latin America as part of our extensive roadshow, presenting at several arbitration conferences. Stops include Toronto for Canada Arbitration Week and the ICC Canada Conference, New York for events like New York Arbitration Week, Atlanta’s AtlAS Annual Conference, DC Arbitration Week in Washington, the AAA-ICDR & CAC-CCB International Arbitration Conference in Bogota, and the IBPA LatAm Regional Event in Lima.
