Raúl Fernández joins Cuatrecasas’ Santiago office as new partner in the Labor practice

Cuatrecasas strengthens its Santiago office with the incorporation of Raúl Fernández as the new partner in charge of leading the Labor and Employment practice. His entry will serve as a spearhead for developing the office’s practice and continuing to expand the Firm’s increasingly comprehensive range of services in Latin America.

Throughout his 13-year professional career, Raúl Fernández has accumulated extensive experience working in leading law firms in Chile, offering advice on all matters related to Labor and Social Security Law. Additionally, he has a distinguished career as an academic, since in addition to teaching at several universities, he has a wide repertoire of publications, exhibitions and research.

Mr. Fernández holds a degree in Legal and Social Sciences from the Universidad de Concepción, where he obtained the highest academic distinction, and a Master’s Degree in Labor and Social Security Law, taught jointly by the Universidad de Valencia (Spain) and the Universidad de Talca (Chile), and a Master of Employment and Labour Relations Law from the University of Melbourne (Australia).

Regarding his incorporation to the Firm, the new Cuatrecasas partner says: "I am very happy to be part of a great professional and human team, and to have the opportunity to contribute to establishing and developing the Labor and Social Security area in the Cuatrecasas office in Santiago. Cuatrecasas is a prestigious international firm that has quickly positioned itself in Chile, so I am honored to join this challenging and beautiful project.

Cristián Conejero, managing partner of the Cuatrecasas office in Santiago, notes: "Raúl’s arrival to lead the labor law practice in our Cuatrecasas office in Chile is a very important milestone. Labor relations have become more complex from a legal standpoint in recent years. Raúl is a true expert in the field, with studies in Australia and Spain and a long career as a Professor at the University of Chile Law School. He has experience in corporate and contentious labor law, with special emphasis on collective bargaining processes supporting large mining, energy and infrastructure companies. He is highly recognized and admired by clients and his peers, so his contribution will be indisputable.
