ARIAS advises IFC on major $150 million financing for Grupo Ransa

ARIAS served as legal counsel to International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group, in a strategic $150 million financing operation granted to Grupo Ransa. This transaction, which spanned multiple jurisdictions across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), will support Grupo Ransa in expanding and consolidating its operations throughout the region.

The team’s involvement was crucial in ensuring that all local financing documents adhered to the legal requirements in each of the countries where the deal was executed. Arias also played a key role in a related financing and refinancing for Grupo Ransa granted by Banco Santander, S.A. and Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, S.A. (Bladex) in 2023 and 2024, solidifying its long-standing relationship with both Banco Santander and Bladex as they participated as parallel B lenders in this transaction.

This deal required a coordinated legal review across multiple jurisdictions, including Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, United States, Spain, and Peru. The financing also supports Grupo Ransa’s sustainability goals, underpinned by an IFC package aimed at promoting decarbonization and managing climate transition risks.
