Venezuelan lawyer receives international award

Elisabeth Eljuri, a partner at the Caracas office of Despacho de Abogados miembros de Macleod Dixon, S.C., has been named one of the ?Key Women in Energy,? and given the Global Award. Houston-based Rader Energy each year names the top 50 women in the global energy sector.

For the 2004 awards, 425 nominations from 45 countries were received. Eljuri was placed in the top 20, and rated number one in the ?wisdom? category. The award recognizes women for their contributions and achievements which benefit the energy sector.

Eljuri received her award on March 30 at the Electric Power 2004 conference held in Baltimore, Maryland. Eljuri will also receive a separate award, Key Women in Energy in the Americas, in Houston in May, at the worldwide OTC--Offshore Technology Conference.

Other Latin American awardees included Xenia Baumgartern of Lukoil in Colombia; Maria Consuela Campos, Shell, Colombia; Diana Espinosa Pacheco, Colombia; Ieda Correira Gomes, BP Solar (born in Brazil); Alicia Izarraraz, BP Amoco (born in Mexico); Alejandra Nicoli, Tecpetrol, Argentina; Dilma Rousseff, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Brazil.

Supporting organizations for the award program include Omaha-based Bozell & Jacobs, the Canadian Consulate-Houston, the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI), Washington D.C.-based Edison Electric Institute (EEI), ILNGA (International LNG Association), and the National Energy Marketers Association (NEM), London-based Eye-For-Energy, Houston-based conference awards program host the Trade Fair Group and Synergy, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Montréal-based Electric Energy T&D magazine.
