Fernando joined Pérez-Llorca in June 2006 and was appointed partner in the Employment practice in 2012. He has worked in employment relations since 2001, having practised at firms including Garrigues Abogados and Cuatrecasas. He graduated in Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2001 and completed a Master’s in Employment Law at Centro de Estudios Garrigues in 2002.
As an employment law specialist, Fernando advises on all aspects of employment relations. His clients include Spanish companies across all sectors, as well as foreign companies starting operations in Spain through the acquisition of a Spanish company or the establishment of a subsidiary.
In the public sector, his work includes: (i) advising on the restructuring of public companies; and (ii) working with the Administrative Law and Corporate and Finance practices on regional public-sector corporate restructuring. He also has extensive experience conducting employment audits and due diligence for company acquisitions and sales.
On employment matters, he advises on the review and drafting of all types of employment contracts, including those for senior executives. He also advises on outsourcing processes and represents clients in negotiations before the Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Service, as well as in collective redundancy proceedings.
Where necessary, Fernando advises and represents clients in proceedings before the social and administrative courts (including dismissal claims, claims concerning employment rights, substantial changes to working conditions, employee elections, disciplinary sanctions and workplace accidents), and in arbitration proceedings. He also advises on the negotiation of collective agreements and represents clients in proceedings before the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate.
