José Miguel Álvarez

José Miguel has led multiple large-scale financings for infrastructure development projects in Honduras, as well as financings for banking institutions in the country. He advises major multinational companies in Honduras, assisting them with all their business activities in the country. He has secured investments worth millions in the energy, maquila and regulated sectors, and has participated in mergers and acquisitions involving domestic companies and foreign investors, including the corresponding filings with the competition authorities in Honduras.
He has experience advising on the development of a renewable energy portfolio of more than 300 MW in Honduras, from inception through to securing the financing required for construction and operation. Best Lawyers has recognized him for several consecutive years as one of Honduras’s leading energy lawyers. He also has experience advising on legal matters in regulated sectors, international and domestic tender processes, energy contracts and legal consulting. He joined BLP as a founding partner in Honduras in 2015.
