José Suárez

José Suárez joined Pérez-Llorca in 2007 and was appointed partner in January 2018.

Experience

With more than 15 years’ experience in tax, José specialises in the taxation of high-net-worth individuals and family businesses. He has extensive experience in intergenerational planning, the tax implications of changes of residence—including validating and adapting foreign investment structures to Spanish law to eliminate tax inefficiencies—and the design of remuneration plans. He also advises financial institutions on the taxation of their products and investment structures.

He has also led numerous tax procedure and litigation matters, including tax audits, tax rulings and tax litigation at every administrative and contentious-administrative level. His tax expertise is complemented by extensive knowledge of accounting law.

José is strongly committed to the firm’s corporate social responsibility work and has advised numerous non-profit organisations on the tax regime applicable to their activities.

Academic Activities

• Since 2020, he has been an associate professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he teaches on the master’s degree in access to the legal profession and the specialist qualification in Corporate Governance and M&A Transactions. He has also contributed to courses and sessions organised by the School of Legal Practice at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
