Juan Carlos Tristán is a partner at BLP’s San José office. In corporate law, Juan Carlos advises local and multinational companies on day-to-day matters, as well as on mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings. In real estate and hospitality, he has been involved in the development, structuring, financing, acquisition and sale of some of Costa Rica’s most significant real estate projects in coastal and urban areas.
He has extensive experience drafting and implementing ethics and anti-corruption policies in Central America and Mexico, as well as advising on related matters, with a focus on the application of the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
He currently serves as chair of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Costa Rica chapter. He is also a member of the Ibero-American Compliance Lawyers Group and represents Costa Rica on the Anti-Corruption Commission of the International Bar Association (IBA). He has contributed to publications on compliance and anti-corruption matters and has spoken at national and international forums.
In addition to being part of the BLP team for 15 years, Juan Carlos was an international associate at Greenberg Traurig in Miami.
