Juan Jiménez - Laiglesia

Juan Jiménez-Laiglesia joined Pérez-Llorca as a partner in 2018.

Before joining the firm, Juan was head of competition law at a Big Four firm, as well as head of the Competition practice in its Madrid office and managing partner of the International Competition practice at a leading international firm.

As a lawyer and economist, Juan specialises in EU law, regulatory law and competition law. He has practised in Brussels and Madrid.

He has extensive experience in joint ventures, strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions, representing both notifying parties and third parties. He also has expertise in abuse of dominance cases, cartel investigations and state aid proceedings before the European Commission, the EU courts, competition authorities and Spanish courts.

Academic Activities

• Juan regularly takes part in seminars and conferences as an expert in European and competition law.
• He also contributes to specialist journals and the press, and has published a wide range of articles and papers on his practice areas. He currently teaches competition law, competition economics and European law at ESADE, ISDE, CEU and IE.
