Luis F. Ruiz

Luis F. Ruiz is a founding partner of BLP in Guatemala. He specializes in corporate law, intellectual property and dispute resolution.

Over more than 20 years as a lawyer, he has represented a significant number of domestic and multinational companies on a range of corporate matters. He is particularly active in mergers and acquisitions, agency and distribution agreements, due diligence and franchising. He also has recognized experience advising family business groups on estate planning, corporate governance and succession.

In his intellectual property practice, he draws on extensive knowledge of protecting intangible assets, including trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets. He is also known for his ability to develop preventive strategies and resolve complex litigation involving smuggling, counterfeiting and intellectual property rights violations more generally.
